White Team Roster

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami baseball team will hold its annual Red and White series starting this weekend at McKie Field at Hayden Park.

The RedHawks will be split into two teams the "Red" and the "White". The two teams will play five games over the course of the next two weekends. The series begins this Friday at 3:15 p.m.

The "Red" team will be coached by Jeremy Ison, who will be entering his fourth-season as a RedHawk assistant coach. Ison played collegiately for the RedHawks and then, after five seasons at various pro levels, he returned to Oxford to coach. He played in 241 games for Miami and hit 28 home runs while batting .318.

Ison will have some of the biggest returning bats on his side as Jordan Petraitis and Chris Nadeau will both be in red for the series. Both Petraitis and Nadeau hit over .300 last season with Petraitis hitting over .350 and posted a slugging percentage of .588. The Red team also will have some solid arms with Reece Asbury, who posted a 3.75 ERA last season, and Tyler Melling, who made eight starts as a freshman.

The "White" team will feature a great deal of the RedHawks youth with 13 underclassmen on the team including five freshmen. The "White" team will also only have one senior, Tommy Nurre. It will be up to Nick Otte to guide this young team past the "Red" squad. Otte is a three-year veteran of the Miami coaching staff and has six years of total coaching experience. Otte played college baseball for Indiana University and earned four varsity letters.

The "White" team has a good amount of experience despite its youth. John Hornke saw action in 27 games as a freshman and Brad Gschwing got on the field for 31 games for the Red and White. Brandon Meister was solid in relief last season as opponents hit .267 against him. John Greene, who made seven starts as a freshman, also is a member of the "White" team.

The Red and White series begins Friday at 3:15 p.m. at McKie Field at Hayden Park and continues Saturday at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. Matt Erwood and Chase Stewart will be the starters for game one. Tyler Melling and Lance Kingrey will start game two.
