Miami University baseball star Jordan Petraitis (Canal Fulton, Ohio) was drafted by the Chicago Cubs Wednesday in the annual Major League Baseball Draft.
The recent Miami graduate was chosen by the Cubs in the 28th round and was the 860th overall pick. The Cubs also picked Petraitis in the 2008 draft.
Petraitis batted a career-high .364 during the 2009 season for Coach Dan Simonds' RedHawks, including 14 doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 54 RBI in 54 games.
Petraitis finished his four-year career with a .333 batting average (289 hits in 868 at bats). The 6-3, 225-pound third baseman stroked a Miami-record 55 doubles during his career, finished second on the RedHawk triples list with 12, ranked third in the record books with 164 RBI, and 12th with 24 career home runs.
