OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University head baseball coach Dan Simonds announced the signing of two student-athletes from Benilde-St. Margaret's High School in Minnesota to National Letters of Intent. Ryan Meyers, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, and Adam Weisenburger, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound catcher, are set to join the RedHawk baseball program in 2007-08.

Meyers is a two-time all-conference and all-section selection. A three-year letterwinner in baseball, Meyers amassed a 5-3 record on the mound as a senior, posting a 2.94 ERA. He made a team-best nine starts and threw 52.1 innings. Meyers led the team with 62 strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .242 batting average. As a junior, he posted a 5-5 record and recorded a 1.73 ERA. Meyers made a team-most 12 appearances, throwing four complete games, while pitching 52.1 innings. He totaled 51 strikeouts as a junior.

Additionally, Meyers led the team as a senior with an impressive .513 batting average, compiling a team-leading 41 hits and 24 runs. As a junior, he posted a .368 batting average but led the team in conference action, recording a team-leading .500 batting average in league play. Meyers twice earned the Minnesota State High School League Distinguished Academic Achievement Award and also is a National Merit Commended Scholar and valedictorian of his class.

"Ryan possesses two above-average pitches that consistently result in strikes. He displayed one of the better curveballs we saw all of last year," said Simonds. "We are looking forward to his development and contributions. He is not only a good pitcher but he is a great student as well."

Weisenburger played in 103 games during his prep career, making 102 starts. He was a second-team all-state selection as a junior and earned all-conference and all-region honors four times. Prior to his junior and senior seasons, Weisenburg was tabbed as a Puma Preseason All-American. As a sophomore, Weisenburger helped Benilde-St. Margaret's to a state title, earning a spot on the all-tournament team. He ranked second on the team in batting average as a senior (.453) and recorded a team-leading seven doubles.

A three-sport athlete also earning all-conference honors in soccer and ice hockey, Weisenburger is a four-year letterwinner in baseball and two-time team captain. He has been selected to participate in the Lions All-Star Game. Weisenberger was named Benilde-St. Margaret's Al Blaser Award recipient, given to the top male athlete at the school. He is a member of National Honor Society and was a high honors student for four years. Additionally, Weisenburger competed nationally with the Minnesota Starz Baseball Club and also attended the White Sox regional All-Area Code team tryouts for the Midwest Region as sophomore and junior.

"Adam has shown the offensive and defensive skills to have an immediate impact on our program," said Simonds. "He has had a very successful high school career and is one of the better overall athletes in the 2007 recruiting class."
