OXFORD, Ohio - Miami travels to Chillicothe, Ohio to face off with Kent State in the opening round of the MAC Tournament. Miami holds an all-time record of 2-4 against Kent State in the tournament. Overall, the RedHawks are 31-19 in tournament play and have won three tournament titles; 1983, 2000, 2005.

THE REDHAWK RUNDOWN
- Adam Eaton (Springfield, Ohio) has been the most efficient run-generator for the RedHawks this season. In 50 games, he has reached base safely in all but one, boasting a .472 on-base percentage and leading the team in runs scored (60). He has also stolen a team-leading 26 bases in 27 attempts. In 99 career games, Eaton has reached base safely in 90. He had his streak of 30 consecutive successful steals come to an end in the last game of the regular season but added an additional steal later in the game. Also, his six triples tie him for fourth on the single-season list, and his nine career triples tie him for 11th all-time in just his sophomore season.
- Samuel Dawes (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Matt Rosinski (University Hts., Ohio) have been two of the most called upon relievers in the bullpen for the RedHawks this season. Dawes and Rosinski have both appeared in 32 games, tying them for the all-time single-season record and extending the record they already set for appearances by a sophomore and freshman, respectively.
- Brad Gschwind (Cincinnati, Ohio) enters the MAC Tournament amidst a 15-game hitting streak. Gschwind has also hit safely in 25 of his last 26 games. During his current streak, he is hitting .344 (21-for-61). Over the last 26 games, he is hitting .340 (36-for-106). He is one game away from tying the longest streak of the season, held by senior Jordan Petraitis (Canal Fulton, Ohio).
- Tommy Nurre (Cincinnati, Ohio) continues to drive in runs at a torrid pace. He has 18 RBI over his last 15 games and is currently the team leader in runs batted in with 49. Nurre also leads the team with a .397 batting average and his .720 slugging percentage. Nurre’s 14 home runs are also tops on the team. He has also reached base safely in all but five of the team’s 51 games, giving him a team-high .484 on-base percentage. He wrapped up the final game of the season against Kent State by going 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored.
THE KENT STATE GOLDEN FLASHES
Kent State comes into the tournament holding a record of 38-15 and finished third in the MAC East Division with a league mark of 17-9. Kent State is 4-2 against Miami in the MAC Tournament, with its most-recent tourney meeting a 4-3 victory over the RedHawks in 2007. Kent State is led by Jimmy Rider in batting average (.356) and Jared Humphreys in RBI’s (53). Every member of the Golden Flashes that has appeared in 38 games or more holds a batting average over .300.
LEADERS IN THE CLUBHOUSE
Adam Eaton (Springfield, Ohio) leads the team in runs scored (61), triples (6) and stolen bases (26). Chris Nadeau (Saline, Mich.) holds the team lead in hits (78) and doubles (19). Tommy Nurre (Cincinnati, Ohio) is Miami the leader this season in batting average (.397), slugging percentage (.720), home runs (14), total bases (136), on-base percentage (.484) and runs batted in (49). Matt Erwood (Atlanta, Ga.) holds the lowest earned-run average for a pitcher with at least two starts (4.23). Jordan Jankowski (McMurray, Pa.) is the team’s saves leader (5). Erwood also leads all pitchers in innings pitched (72.1) and strikeouts (49), while Jamaal Hollis (Chicago, Ill.) leads all pitchers with more than one appearance in ERA (2.13).
NEXT UP
Miami is the No. 5 seed in the MAC Tournament and will face No. 4 Kent State. The game is set to start at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. The conference tournament will take place in Chillicothe, Ohio, at the VA Memorial Stadium May 20-23. The winner of the tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
