OXFORD, Ohio (April 4) -- Miami University's baseball team allowed a season-high 16 runs and 18 hits in a 16-6 setback Wednesday night at the University of Cincinnati. Miami has now dropped four games in a row, its longest losing streak of the season.

Cincinnati jumped all over Miami starting pitcher Mark Floersch (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) for five runs on four hits in the first inning to grad a 5-0 lead, which it would never relinquish.

Miami (12-14) and Cincinnati traded a pair of two-run frames before the Bearcats added four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a commanding 13-2 lead.

Cincinnati (17-11) upped its lead to 16-3 after seven innings before Miami tallied three runs in the eighth to account for the final margin.

Clark Mace (London, Ohio/Madison Plains) and David Cook (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) led Miami with two hits apiece. Jason Knoedler (Springfield, Ill./Springfield/Lincoln Land C.C.) added a two-run single and freshman Matt Lee (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) drilled his first-career home run in the losing effort.

Miami looks to end its skid at 1 p.m. Friday when it hosts Ball State in a Mid-American Conference doubleheader at Stanley G. McKie Field.
