CINCINNATI, Ohio (March 28, 2000) -- Miami University's baseball team swept its season series against Xavier University today as the RedHawks came away with a 7-4 victory at Hayden Field in Cincinnati. The Red and White defeated the Musketeers last Wednesday 4-1 in Oxford and hold a 70-33-1 advantage all-time.
Miami (15-7) was led by junior Brady Nori (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown), who extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Nori collected three hits and two RBI, including a two-run single in the fourth inning. Freshman Andi Scheidt (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) added two hits, two runs and three RBI for the RedHawks. Scheidt opened the scoring with a two-run shot, his first of the year, over the left field fence in the second inning.
Seniors Bobby Barnes (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) and Joe Spain (Warren, Ohio/Howland) each tallied two hits for Miami. Barnes hit his fourth double of the season in the ninth inning and would later score on a wild pitch.
Freshman Adam Keel (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) picked up the win for the RedHawks. Keel (3-0) pitched three scoreless innings, striking out two and walking one.
Kevin Crowley took the loss on the mound for Xavier (8-16). Jarret Sues, Eric Greenwell and Ty Brenning all had two hits apiece for the Musketeers.
Miami opens Mid-American Conference play this weekend as it hosts Eastern
Michigan on Saturday and Toledo on Sunday. The RedHawks play double-headers
on both days with game times set for 1 p.m.
