OXFORD, Ohio (March 17) - Miami University's baseball team snapped its' six-game winning streak against Detroit with a 14-4 loss, but rebounded in the nightcap to overtake the Titans 11-0 at Stanley G. McKie Field.

The six-game streak was the longest for the Hawks since last season, when they won seven straight from April 25 to May 2.

In the first game, Detroit came out on fire plating three runs in the top of the first inning. Miami cut into the lead in the second inning on a solo home run by junior Tom Yost (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder), his second of the year. However, the Titans (4-3) broke the game open scoring 11 runs over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take control.

Yost finished the game 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Senior Bobby Barnes (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) tallied three hits, one RBI and one run, while junior Jeremy Ison (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) notched two hits, including an RBI-double in the sixth inning. Junior Clark Mace (London, Ohio/Madison Plains) went 0-for-4, snapping his 18-game hitting streak.

Sophomore Billy Kieninger (Xenia, Ohio/Xenia) suffered the loss on the mound, working four and one-third innings, giving up seven hits and six runs. Chris Andrzejak got the win throwing a complete game. Juston Davenport led Detroit with three hits, while five other Titans collected two hits apiece.

In the second game, Miami held a two-run lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before erupting for seven runs to secure the victory. Sophomore Russ Bayer (Naperville, Ill./North) picked up his fourth win of the year as he one-hit Detroit for the complete game shutout. Bayer (4-0) struck out four Titans and allowed only two walks.

Junior Luke Reinhart (Downers Grove, Ill./Montini Catholic) and freshman David Cook (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis De Sales) each tallied two hits for Miami, while junior Brady Nori (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

David Wampler (1-1) suffered the defeat and Roosevelt Morris had the lone hit for Detroit.

Miami (10-6) and Detroit wrap up their weekend series on Sunday. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
