BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 13, 2000)- Miami University's baseball team evened its record at 5-5 and handed Iona University its first loss of the season Monday night, defeating the Gaels 10-4.

Miami was powered by Billy Kieninger's (Xenia, Ohio) dominant performance on the mound. The sophomore, who moved to 1-1 on the season, went eight full innings, amassing a career-high 10 strikeouts while surrendering only one walk. Kieninger's counterpart Luke Lambo took the loss for Iona, surrendering seven runs off seven hits in five and two-thirds innings of work.

At the plate, Miami was led by Clark Mace (London, Ohio), who extended his hitting streak to 14 games while batting 2-for-3 with four RBIs, two stolen bases and a triple. Brady Nori (Middletown, Ohio) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs while John Lackaff (Downers Grove, Ill.) went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

Miami returns to the field again at 2 p.m. on Tuesday for a matchup with Hartford.
