LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 10) - The University of Louisville baseball team edged the Miami University RedHawks 4-3 in an evening tilt March 10 at Cardinal Stadium.

Mike Hook was 3-for-4, scored three runs and stole three bases for U of L (4-12), including a straight steal of home in the fifth for what turned out to be the game-winning run. Scott Kohler had a perfect night in three at bats, driving in two and scoring one. He has multiple hit efforts in five of his last eight games and now leads the team with a .383 batting average.

Sean Green pitched one and a third innings, surrendering one hit to pick up the first save of the season for Louisville. Starter Todd Raithel(1-3) struck out five in five and two-thirds, giving up two earned runs.

The RedHawks(3-4) scored all three of their runs in the sixth on a two run single by leftfielder Bobby Barnes and an error on a ground ball by Kohler at third. Designated Hitter Brady Nori was two-for-four with a run scored. Starter Nathan Tekavec went the distance, striking out seven and walking two.

Cardinal relievers Shawn Hoover and Antonio Castellvi combined for 2 innings of hitless relief, striking out four. Hoover struck out the side in the seventh on 13 pitches.

U of L's Troy Hilpp saw his eight-game hitting streak end, while RedHawk centerfielder Clark Mace extended his to 11 games with a two-out single in the ninth.

On Saturday, March 11 the Cardinals send freshman Mike Gardner (0-0, 4.08 ERA) to the hill to face Miami's Matt Allen (0-1), 4.50 ERA for a 1 p.m. game. First pitch on Sunday is at noon. That game wraps up the three-game home series.
