Jeremy Ison Goes 4-for-6 with two HRs

OXFORD, OHIO (March 8) -- Miami University's baseball team broke out a recent scoring slump and dominated the University of Dayton Wednesday, 20-9, at Stanley G. McKie Field. The RedHawks (3-3), who snapped their three-game losing skid, had 12 players record a hit, including five home runs. His first home run came in the third inning, a two-run shot over the left field fence. Ison's second homer, a solo shot, came in the Hawks seven-run seventh inning.

Second baseman John Lackaff (Downers Grove, Ill./North) raised his average to .474 following a 3-for-5 afternoon. He also connected for two HRs, including the second half of back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning with Ison's dinger.

Junior Tom Yost (London, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) and sophomore George Stegmiller (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) each added three hits apiece for the RedHawks. Yost hit a solo home run in the fifth inning and Stegmiller tallied an RBI-single in the seventh inning. Juniors Clark Mace (London, Ohio/Madison Plains) and Brady Nori (Middletown, Ohio) recorded two hits apiece. Mace scored four times and added an RBI-double in the fourth inning.

Sophomore Russ Bayer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) picked up the victory for Miami. Bayer (2-0) worked five and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on 11 hits and striking out three Flyer batters.

Shawn Bolinger hit a two-run round-tripper for Dayton and went 3-for-4, while Mark Schulte registered three hits in five at-bats. Kasey Rosendahl (0-2) took the loss, surrendering seven runs, six hits and two walks in one inning.
