John Lackaff launched a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome undefeated Kentucky's nine-run lead heading into the inning as the RedHawks suffered a 9-3 loss to the 14-0 Wildcats. Miami dropped to 2-3 on the season.
Lackaff was 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a run. Clark Mace was the only other RedHawks to produce a multiple-hit game as he went 2-for-4. On the mound, Matt Allen picked up the loss. In five innings of work, Allen gave up five runs and four hits and struck out three batters.
The RedHawks take to the field again at 2 p.m. on March 8 when they host
the Dayton Flyers.
