DAYTON, Ohio - Junior Mike Galloway (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Michigan), who is 9-for-10 in his last 13 plate appearances, helped the Miami University (28-24) baseball team to a 6-3 victory at Wright State (18-30) with a 3-for-4 night including his 14th home run at Nischwitz Stadium Wednesday night. The RedHawks have won their last four contests entering this weekend's pivotal series at home versus Kent State.
The RedHawks scored the games first run when junior David Cook (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) battled back from an 0-2 count to hit a 3-2 pitch over the left-field wall for a lead-off home run in the first inning. The round-tripper was his 11th of the season.
Wright State notched single runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-1 lead on sophomore hurler Chad Reineke (Defiance, Ohio/Ayersville). The one run was scored as a result of Bryan Vickers solo shot in the second inning, and the second was Chris Tuttle scored from third on a wild pitch.
The contest was broken wide open when the Red and White rallied for five run in the fifth frame. Freshman Brian Canada (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) beat out infield single to third base to get things rolling for the RedHawks. Canada advanced to second when Cook drew a base on balls, and moved over to third on a fly out to center field. With two outs Galloway took his 2-2 offering deep over the left-center field wall landing some 475 feet away from the dish for a three-run bomb. Junior Michael Carlin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) trotted over to first on a walk, and rounded the bases to the plate on an RBI double by sophomore Ryan Edginton (Chester Springs, Pa./Arizona State). The RedHawks upped their lead to 6-2 when freshman pinch hitter Sam Sellery (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) singled home Edginton.

Reineke allowed one more Raiders' run in the sixth inning and ran into some trouble in the seventh stanza when Kofi Gyimah reached on an error, and quickly made his way around to third with a stolen base and a ground out to second base. Senior
Shawn Landis (Pleasant Hill, Ohio/Dayton) entered the contest with one out and needed just seven pitches to put down the next two Wright State batters and preserve Miami's 6-3 lead.
Finishing off the contest was junior Adam Keel (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) who pitched two solid innings with two strikeouts to record his second save. Reineke improves his record to 2-2 by going 6.1 innings allowing only three runs. Allowing all five runs in the fifth inning was Wright State's Kyle Young who drops to 0-1.
The RedHawks play a four-game set at home against Kent State on May 17-19. The Sunday, May 19 contest against the Golden Flashes is the official dedication game for Miami's ballpark, McKie Field at Hayden Park. All four contests will be broadcast live on Miami's website, www.MURedHawks.com.
