OXFORD, Ohio - For the third time this season junior Michael Carlin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) left the yard more than once as he belted two home runs in a 12-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at McKie Field at Hayden Park over Ohio University (19-23, 7-12 Mid-American). Tossing his first complete game of the season for the Miami University (24-22, 11-9 MAC) baseball team was senior hurler Billy Kieninger (Xenia, Ohio/Xenia), who evened his record at 4-4 after a rough outing on Saturday.

The RedHawks didn't waste any time in putting runs on the scoreboard as they belted two round-trippers in the first frame en route to taking a 4-0 lead. Bobcats' starter Shaun Pest (1-2) got the first two Miami batters out but ran into trouble when he walked junior Mike Galloway (St. Thomas, Ontario/Central Michigan). Carlin stepped to the dish and hit a towering shot over the left-field wall to give the RedHawks a 2-0 lead. Narrowly missing a home run of his own, sophomore Ryan Edginton (Chester Springs, Pa./Arizona State) ripped a double off the center-field wall with the bases empty. Junior Andi Scheidt (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) rounded out the first inning with a two-run home run after Edginton's double to give Miami to 4-0 advantage.

Freshman Nolan McCue (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle) led off the second frame with a single up the middle, and advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on a fielder's choice. Plating McCue for the RedHawks fifth run was freshman Sam Sellery (Carmel, Ind./Cathedral) with an RBI single up the middle. Galloway followed Sellery with a double to right field to put men on second and third with the dangerous Carlin coming to the plate. Before Carlin could even take the bat off his shoulder Sellery scored on a passed ball and Galloway was tagged out at the plate attempting to score from second. On a 1-2 count Carlin scorched a line drive over the wall in left field for his team leading 14th dinger of the season.

While the RedHawks were scoring at will in the first two innings right-hander Kieninger was tossing a no-hitter through the first four stanzas. The Red and White added another run in the third inning to give Kieninger an 8-0 lead. Kieninger saw the no-no broken up when OU third baseman Adam Fox led off the fifth with a double to left field.

Ohio finally got a run off Kieninger in the sixth frame when left fielder Brandon Wheeler hit an infield single to first base. The next Bobcats' batter, right fielder Brian White who hit two home runs on Saturday, ripped a double to center field to score Wheeler and cut the deficit to 8-1.

The bottom of the sixth inning featured more trouble for the Bobcats as Miami notched three more runs to its tally. After both Sellery and Galloway reached base safely Carlin hit an RBI single through the left side to score Sellery from second base. Ohio's third pitcher of the contest, Dan Cobb, entered the game and proceeded to plunk Edginton with his first pitch. With the bases juiced Scheidt grounded out into what would be an easy 523 double play, and was the final ruling after Galloway interfered with the catcher. Junior Zach Schmidt (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) silenced the Bobcats' fans on Miami's next at-bat with a double to left field scoring both Carlin and Edginton. Miami added to its 11-1 lead with another run in the seventh inning, upping its lead to 12-1.

Going into its final at-bats in the ninth inning Ohio managed only one run when center fielder Mike Arbinger led off the frame with a solo shot to left field. Kieninger finished off the complete game by allowing no more runs to collect the victorious decision. Credited with the loss after allowing five runs in one inning of work was Peet.

Over shadowed by Carlin's 3-for-4, four ribbie outing was junior David Cook (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales). Despite batting 1-for-5 in the contest Cook's RBI double in the third inning kept his hitting streak alive at a Miami season-best 12 games.

Miami squares off against Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio for a mid-week match up on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. Live stats of the game will be available on Miami's web site as well as on the Buckeyes web site. The RedHawks next conference action is this weekend at Akron on May 10-12.
