AUSTIN, Tex. - A day after the RedHawks held the No. 13 Texas Longhorns to just two runs on seven hits in a 6-2 victory, the Longhorn bats awoke and knocked out a 9-0 win at Disch-Falk Field.
The star of the Texas lineup continued to be right fielder Kyle Russell, who went 3-for-4 last night with a pair of homeruns. His bat stayed hot today as he went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a three-run homer. Miami's only hits, both singles, came from Jordan Petraitis and Jeff Carroll.
Miami starter Connor Graham took the worst of the Texas offense giving up eight runs on nine hits in four innings of work. Graham as replaced in the fifth by junior Steve Antoniotti who went two innings allowing just one run, three hits and two walks. Sophomore lefthander Robert Shannon closed out the game surrendering just two hits and one unearned run over the final two frames. The loss evens Graham's record at 1-1. Texas' starter Adrian Alaniz went the distance striking out seven and walking none.
Miami moves to 3-5 on the season, while Texas improves to 14-7. The two teams close out the three game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. with one nine-inning game.
