CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Miami baseball team battled back and forth with Cincinnati on Wednesday afternoon finally coming away winners, 11-8, in Marge Schott Stadium. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Oxford but the game was moved to Cincinnati after weather conditions made the game unplayable on Miami's home field.

Tommy Nurre (Cincinnati, Ohio) homered early and Adam Eaton (Springfield, Ohio) homered late as the RedHawks beat back several Bearcat rallies to claim the victory. Reece Asbury (Centerville, Ohio) earned the win and Jordan Jankowski (McMurray, Pa.) earned his first career save in the game.

Miami grabbed the early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning but the Bearcats came back with three runs in the bottom of the frame. The two teams played even over the next two innings until Miami erupted in the top of the fourth.

Nurre came up with the bases loaded and knocked a double into left, scoring all three base runners. Cincinnati rallied back in the bottom of the inning with two more runs to make the score 6-5.

Nurre stuck again with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth to extend the RedHawk lead to 8-5. Cincinnati evened the score in the bottom of the seventh on two passed balls by the RedHawks. Miami retook the lead in the top of the eighth with a triple to right-centerfield by Zak Hatfield (Fort Wanye, Ind.), then Eaton put the game away in the top of the ninth with a two-run home run to left field. Jankowski set the Bearcats down in order in the bottom of the ninth to earn his first save in the Red and White.

Next up for the RedHawks is their spring break trip in Orlando, Fla. Miami opens the trip on Saturday with a game against Northeastern at 9 a.m. at Chain of Lakes Stadium.
