A 1992 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan, Googins has served as an assistant coach
at Indiana since 1992, working primarily with the coaching and conditioning
of the Hoosier catchers.
Googins also has served as a baseball camp instructor at Miami, Indiana,
Emory and Southern Maryland. Furthermore, Googins gained experience working
with the Columbus Clippers during the summer of 1992, assisting with ticket
requests, gameday preparations and public relations.
Googins, a native of Granville, Ohio, was a three-year varsity
letterwinner at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio. He was the Battling
Bishops catcher during his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons and
posted a .350 career batting average before suffering an arm injury prior
to his senior season. Because of an injury, Googins served as a coach at
Ohio Wesleyan his senior season and the following year. He served as the
first base coach and worked with the teams catchers.
