The CHAMPS/Life Skills and Marketing departments work on joint efforts to provide student-athletes with meaningful and purposeful opportunities to be in the community, engage in the campus experience, meet new students and promote themselves and their teams. In ongoing department-wide efforts to continuously connect to the community and campus, the student-athletes volunteered their time this week to welcome the class of 2014 and help out with events.

On Thursday the incoming class will move in with the help of the Miami Football, Baseball and Men's & Women's Track and Cross Country teams. Athletics will be among several other campus groups lending a helping hand to the incoming families.

Our neighbors on North Quad include the Living Learning Community, RedHawk Traditions; which in their three pillars of learning there is a focus on Athletics. The new freshman of RedHawk Traditions will kickoff their 2010 year with the Men's and Women's Basketball teams on Friday evening.

MU Block Party will be the feature event on Saturday, August 21st for the Class of 2014. This annual event is held at Yager Stadium and will include a giant meet n' greet, interactive games, dinner and a hypnotist. The Volleyball, Hockey and Synchronized Skating teams will also be in attendance to mingle with the incoming class; along with opening remarks from Athletic Director Brad Bates, President Hodge and The Mayor of Oxford, Richard Keebler.

Check back next week for pictures from the events!
