Student-Athlete Success Recognized at Men's Basketball Game

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami Athletics recognized its President's List student-athletes -- those who earned a 4.0 grade-point average for the Spring and/or Fall 2009 semesters at the Jan. 29 men's basketball game. Director of Athletics Brad Bates and Academic Coordinators Craig Bennett, Elysa Appel and Brad Horton were on the court to present the awards. Miami University is proud of the student-athletes who represent the institution with excellence, both in athletic competition and in the classroom.

Those student-athletes achieving President's List honors include:

Seth Philip, an Accounting major, Andrew Illig an Undeclared Arts and Science major, and Austin Boucher, a Business Economics major, from the football team;

representing the Women's Tennis team was Henrieka Honiball, a Mathematics and Statistics major;

Kelsey McHugh, a Zoology Major, Amanda Rhoades, a Zoology Major, Brittany Bernardoni an Exercise Science Major, and Laura Gehret a Life Science Education Major from the Women's Track and Field Team;

representing the Volleyball Team were Jenna Caylor, a French and French Education Major, and Hallie Hanks, an Accounting Major;

representing the Men's Track and Field team was Paul Krebs, a Zoology Major, David Eichenberger, an Exercise Science Major;

from the Women's Swimming and Diving Team were Kelsey Mallon, a Speech Pathology and Audiology major, Miranda Kaltenborn, a Psychology Major,Leah Thornton, an Undeclared Arts and Sciences Major, and Ellen Barhorst a Middle Childhood Education Major;

representing the Women's Basketball Team was Rachael Hencke, an Exercise Science Major;

and representing the Field Hockey team was Brittany Branco, a Nursing major.

Several student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA during the Spring semester and have already graduated from Miami. They include Matthew Erwood (Baseball), Alexandre Lacombe (Hockey), Justin Mercier (Hockey), Jenna Schone (Women's Basketball), Courtney Elsen (Soccer), Ashley Gartland (Softball), Melissa Roemmele (Women's Swimming and Diving) and Catherine Wolfe (Volleyball).
