Thank you to everyone in the Miami community who has supported the dance team in its first year as a competitive squad. Finishing in the top 10 at Nationals the first year is very rare, and we could not have done it without your support, whether through purchasing a poster, sponsoring the team, or attending our Send-Off performance on April 5th.

Dance Team Overview:
The Miami Dance Team entertains the crowds and promotes spirit at Miami by performing at all home men's and women's basketball games. The dance team also competes, attending several competitions throughout the year including NDA College Nationals. The team performs and competes in multiple styles of dance including jazz, pom, and hip hop, with a strong emphasis on difficult technical skills (turns, leaps, jumps).

Each summer the team attends NDA camp to learn new choreography and earn a bid to national competition. Other season events include traveling with the basketball teams to the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio; exhibition performances throughout the year; cheering at several Miami football games; bringing in a guest choreographer for our nationals routine; and of course traveling to NDA Nationals in Daytona Beach in April.

Tryout information:
Auditions for the dance team are currently held twice a year in the spring and the fall. Tryouts are open to all incoming freshmen and transfer students as well as all current Miami students. Incoming freshmen and transfer students are encouraged to tryout at the spring audition prior to their entrance to Miami in the Fall.

Tryout fee $25 (mandatory and non-refundable; proceeds will go to support Dance Team Program; fee should be submitted first day of tryouts)
