OXFORD, Ohio - Known for the long blonde hair that flowed from the back of his helmet, Miami University quarterback ZAC DYSERT (Ada, Ohio) has cut his golden mane and donated it to Locks of Love.

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Its mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.

"I felt like it would be a good way to give back to disadvantaged kids," said Dysert.

Stylist Bobbie Jo Dykes at Oxford's Luna Blu cut off approximately 10 inches of Dysert's hair.

Several RedHawk athletes have provided hair to Locks of Love, including ice hockey All-American Ryan Jones a few years ago.

Dysert ended his career on Nov. 23 as Miami's all-time leading passer with 12,013 total yards. That ranks No. 2 among all-time Mid-American Conference quarterbacks and 20th on the career NCAA list.
