OXFORD,
Ohio - Miami University softball coach Clarisa Crowell
announced the signing of Jenna Jones (Greencastle, Ind./South Putnam) to a National
Letter of Intent. Jones will begin play for the RedHawks in the 2014 season.
Jones is a three-year letterwinner for South Putnam
High School. As a junior last season, she led the Eagles to a perfect 31-0
record and the Indiana 2A state championship. She hit .395 during the season
with five home runs. Jones played both middle infield and outfield for the team
and has been selected all-county and all-conference each of the past two
seasons. She plays her club softball for the Shockwaves and led the team to a
16U State "A" Championship last year, as well as a 13th place finish at the
ASA/USA "A" Nationals.
"I am very excited that Jenna has decided to join our
RedHawk family," said Crowell. "She is a versatile and fiery player that can
play in the outfield or infield. Beside talent, Jenna embodies all the
qualities that we look for in an athlete. She has a strong work ethic, a great
attitude and she plays the game with passion and intensity."
While Jones will not be arriving until the 2014 season,
the 2013 edition of the RedHawks will begin its defense of the Mid-American
Conference Tournament and East Division crowns this February. Check back with
