CLEVELAND
- The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly field hockey
awards on Tuesday. Earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week for Miami was
junior goalkeeper Sarah Mueller (Berlin, Germany). It is the third time this
season and fourth time in her career that she has won this honor.
Mueller made 16 saves in the two games she played
this past weekend. She made four saves in a victory over Ball State on
Saturday. Facing an offensive onslaught from 15th-ranked Michigan on Sunday,
she stood tall and made 12 saves against the Wolverines, keeping the game
scoreless until nearly the end of the first half. Mueller had an impressive
.800 save percentage in 140 minutes of play.
Mueller was previously named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on
Sept. 11 and again on Oct. 9.
The RedHawks will look to earn a share of the MAC regular
season title and clinch the number one seed in the MAC Tournament when they
host Ohio in the regular season finale Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The game is also
senior day and at the conclusion of the contest a ceremony honoring Olivia Miller
and Addie Absher will be held.
