Football Injury Report: Tuesday, Sept. 25
The Miami football team could use its star wide receiver and
starting defensive tackle back.
The offense, although still effective, hasn't been the same
since Nick Harwell sustained a leg injury a week before the start of the Boise
State game. There haven't been any updates on the junior's condition in the
past week, but coach Don Treadwell did say he was "doubtful" for Saturday's
game at Akron. Harwell was, however, at practice wearing shoulder pads and a
yellow "injured player" jersey on Tuesday. He looked a little stiff walking
into the locker room, but it looks like he's progressing. My guess is that he'll
miss this week and aim for a return next week when the RedHawks play rival
Cincinnati Oct. 6.
Senior captain Austin Brown is still out with a back injury.
An update on his injury hasn't been provided either, other than he is still "week
to week". Coach Treadwell said there's an outside chance he'll play against
Akron, but that they would evaluate him before the game and make a decision. He
has been practicing with the team the past two weeks, wearing a yellow jersey.
My guess is that they are being extra careful and like Harwell he will most
likely return next week. The defensive line could certainly use his veteran
Sophomore wide receiver David Frazier, who sat out Saturday's
game against UMass with a leg injury, should be good to go this week against
Akron. He practiced with the team Tuesday without a yellow jersey.
Senior offensive lineman JoJo Williams looks to be back at
100 percent. Brad Bednar won't be moving from center anytime soon, so Williams
will likely see action at the guard position as he's needed.
Freshman offensive guard Brandyn Cook is still out indefinitely
with a hand injury.
