Every week for the rest of the 2012-13 school year, I'll be honoring Miami University's top athletes in a blog post titled "High Marx", which recognizes them for outstanding performances from the previous week. Enjoy!

"High Marx"

Women's Soccer

  • Freshman Haley Walter had a career weekend, helping Miami go 1-1 against strong competition last week. She scored two goals, the first two of her career, in Sunday's 4-2 win at Milwaukee, who is receiving votes in the NSCAA Division I Poll. She was instrumental in a three-goal, second-half comeback against the Panthers in the rain. After Miami fell behind 2-1 early in the second half, her cross into the box helped lead to the tying goal. She then scored the RedHawks' next two goals to give Miami the victory, including scoring the game-winning goal, the first of her career. She dominated the right flank all game, firing a game-high seven shots in the match, including four on goal, while getting behind the defense several times.

  • Jenny Ingle had a career-high 15 kills to go with two solo blocks and a block assist against Marshall on Saturday. She hit .379 for the match on 29 attempts in the team's 3-2 loss in the Thunder Invitational in Huntington, W.Va.

Field Hockey

  • Sarah Mueller had a career-high 14 saves in Sunday's 3-1 loss to No. 23 Louisville, including nine in the second half.
