Katie Bowling enters her fifth season as an assistant coach with Miami’s Synchronized Skating program. Bowling was a four-year member of the senior team and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in business management from Miami in May 2010. While at Miami, she was a part of history as the RedHawks became the first team from the United States to ever medal at the ISU World Championships, earning a silver medal in 2007.
Bowling skated on Miami’s 2009 National Championship team at the senior level and helped the Red and White to silver medals at the U.S. National Championships in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, she also represented the United States with Miami at the World University games in Torino, Italy. Additionally, she took home the team’s top two awards at the 2010 banquet being named the senior team’s 2010 Senior of the Year and also the senior team’s Most Outstanding Skater.
Bowling, a native of Ann Arbor, Mich., is pursuing a master’s degree in sports behavior and psychology at Miami and has integrated mental training techniques in bi-weekly team meetings.
