OXFORD, Ohio – After coming in as the Mid-American Conference’s (MAC) top finisher at the 2013 Pre-Nationals Invitational hosted by Indiana State University Saturday, Oct. 19, the league office announced Wednesday morning that senior Dave Wing was named Men’s Runner of the Week. This is Wing’s fifth time earning this conference honor this season.

Wing (Naperville, Ill.) led the RedHawks for a fifth consecutive time at Saturday's Pre-Nationals, finishing 83th overall in 24:29.65. He was the first MAC runner to finish the 8K race, followed closely by Eastern Michigan’s Warren Mitchell who took 85th in 24:29.99. The senior helped Miami place second among MAC teams, beating out Eastern Michigan and Akron. Miami had been ranked 13th behind both teams in the Great Lakes Region before the meet, but now ranks 10th above Akron in this week’s USTFCCCA NCAA Division 1 Regional Cross Country Rankings.

This is the fifth MAC Runner of the Week award Wing has received in his career as a RedHawk. He received his first conference honor this season after taking second at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge. He earned MAC honors again a week later after winning the 2013 Miami Invitational in 14:55.3. He was then tabbed MAC Runner of the Week for a third time this season after pacing the RedHawks at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational. He took 11th overall in a career-high 8K time of 24:17.21. Wing earned his fourth conference honor for his solid performance at the All-Ohio Championship. He finished second overall in 25:03.56, and was the top finisher of Division 1 schools at the meet.

Wing and the rest of the RedHawks will return to action Saturday, Nov. 2 when they travel to Bowling Green, Ohio for the 2013 MAC Championship. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
