CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced its players of the week on Tuesday. Earning MAC Defensive Player of the Week is senior midfielder/back Jordan Long. It is the first weekly honor for her in career.
Long led a Miami defense that held tough against two ranked opponents. It took a bend, but don’t break appearance as Boston and Northwestern combined for 25 shots in two games, but were only able to break through on four goals, two of which came on penalty corners. Long helped the defense allow only one goal against 16th-ranked Boston University and kept the high-scoring 11th-ranked Northwestern Wildcats with only one goal until they got two off penalty corners in the second half.
It is the second straight week a RedHawk player won MAC Defensive Player of the Week as junior back Ali Froede took home the honor last Wednesday.
The challenging non-conference schedule continues for the RedHawks next weekend when it heads to College Park, Md. for the Terp Invitational. On Saturday, Miami takes on 20th-ranked American at 1 p.m. On Sunday, the RedHawks face the host, second-ranked Maryland, at 2 p.m.
