OXFORD, Ohio - The rink has been built and final preparations are being made for the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic on Feb. 17 when Miami battles Notre Dame in the program's first ever outdoor hockey game. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. ET/noon CT while the doubleheader will also see Wisconsin take on Minnesota in a WCHA clash in the second game of the Hockey City Classic at 3:30 p.m. CT.
Miami fans who ordered tickets through the Miami Athletic Ticket Office will have their tickets mailed out to them by the end of the month. The Miami Athletic Ticket Office is no longer taking orders for the Hockey City Classic, however fans who have not bought tickets yet may still do so through Ticketmaster.com.
Miami students who purchased tickets through the Miami Athletic Ticket Office can either pick up their tickets in person at the Miami Athletic Ticket Office in Millett Hall on Feb. 14-15 (Thursday and Friday prior to the game) or the tickets can be picked up on the day of the game at Soldier Field. The student who ordered the tickets MUST be the person who also picks up the tickets. Miami's Athletic Ticket Office does have a very limited supply of student tickets remaining. Fans can reserve hotel rooms for the outdoor game in Chicago at the Hyatt McCormick Place downtown for a fan rate of $129 per night. To purchase hotel rooms at the fan rate, click here. The hotel is less than a mile walk from Soldier Field.
Several events will also be taking place in Chicago surrounding the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic. For Chicago-area alumni, there will be an open skate on the ice at Soldier Field on Friday, Feb. 15 from 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CT. The cost is $10 per person and registration is required by Feb. 7, which can be completed here.
The day before the game (Saturday, Feb. 16), the Miami Alumni Association is holding a reception at the Oak Room of the Metropolitan Club (233 S. Wacker Drive, 66th Floor, Chicago, 60606) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. CT. Miami University President Dr. David Hodge, new Athletic Director David Sayler and head coach Enrico Blasi will all be guests at the reception. Cost for the event is $30 per person or $25 for members of the Alumni Association. Registration is also necessary by Feb. 7.
Prior to the big game, Miami alumni and fans will gather at The Scout (1301 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago, 60601) for food, drinks and to get fired up before the RedHawks take on the Fighting Irish. Doors open at 9 a.m. CT (three hours before puck drop) and seating is first-come, first-served.
In addition to the Alumni Association events, Miami will hold its practice on the ice at Soldier Field on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. CT. The practice is open to the public and free of charge, though there may be a charge for parking.
The outdoor game is the second half of a weekend series against Notre Dame, as the sixth-ranked RedHawks host the No. 7/8 Fighting Irish at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7:35 p.m. That game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network while the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic game against Notre Dame will air on Fox Sports Detroit, as well as several Fox Sports affiliates.
