OXFORD, Ohio – With snow blanketing Oxford and the Miami University campus, the RedHawks’ women’s swimming and diving team has begun a week-long training period at an outdoor complex in Boca Raton, Florida.

Miami’s training headquarters is an outdoor facility at Boca’s picturesque St. Andrews Country Club. The trip includes a non-scoring dual meet against James Madison University the morning of New Year’s Day.

Head coach Dave Jennings looks forward to the trip each year, particularly for the bonding of his team’s competitive spirit.

“Traveling to Florida is a great opportunity for us to get some good training in and compete against a strong James Madison University team,” said Jennings. “Sunny weather keeps the spirits high for the team and helps create a better bond among the women.  Hopefully, this will help gain momentum for good championship performances.

Miami’s next meet in the Midwest is a coed meet against non-conference advisory Cincinnati on Friday, Jan. 11. A week later, it returns home to the Nixon Aquatic Center to host Akron (Jan. 18, 4 p.m.).
