CLEVELAND - Miami University sophomore distance runner Jarrod Eick was named Mid-American Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The award is his first weekly honor for track and the second of his career, also picking up MAC Runner of the Week during cross country season this past fall.

Eick (Hartville, Ohio) earned a pair of first-place finishes at the season-opening Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Saturday. Both his victories came in come-from-behind fashion, winning the 800m run in a personal-best 1:52.98 while in the 1500m run he claimed first in another personal best of 3:51.43. He set meet records in both events, competing in a field of 28 in the 800m and a field of 21 in the 1500m. Eick’s 1500m time is tops in the MAC so far this year while his 800m time is second.

Eick and the rest of the RedHawks head to the University of Cincinnati this weekend for the Oliver Nikoloff Open April 1-2.
