OXFORD, Ohio—Miami University Athletics is pleased to announce another record-setting fundraising year.
For just the fourth time since the creation of athletic fundraising at Miami, and for the second consecutive year, the RedHawk Athletic Development Staff secured gifts of $4 million in total cash. Also for a second straight year, the staff exceeded $10 million in gifts and pledges.
“We are excited about the progress we have made in fundraising this past year,” said Miami University Director of Athletics David Sayler. “We continue to set our goals very high to make a difference for our student-athletes, coaches and staff.”
As part of the increase in giving, the Red & White Club shattered its previous numbers in terms of donors and dollars raised – exceeding records from 2013 by more than 200 new members and raising nearly $900,000 in annual scholarship gifts. More than 300 active members increased their giving to help reach that number. A unique part of Red & White Club support this year came from having contributions from all student-athletes, coaches and staff.
Miami Athletics also received a lead gift for the Indoor Sports Center, which broke ground in April and is expected to open for use this winter. Funds gifted for the Legacy Project at Hayden Park were also secured enabling the department to move forward with this baseball project; and the Weight Room and Conditioning Project at the Goggin Ice Center was also completed and is now open for use.
In the last 18 months, the athletic department has raised approximately $24 million in gifts and pledges.
