Baseball

Last Week: After entering the week winning 10 of its last 15, Miami struggled on the road. The RedHawks dropped a pair of midweek games at Tennessee Tech by scores of 4-1 (Recap) and 13-5 (Recap). MU then resumed MAC play with a series at Central Michigan. Poor field conditions postponed Friday's opener to Saturday, where Seth Varner pitched six strong innings and left with a 4-2 lead, but the Chippewas scored five runs in the seventh and another in the eighth inning to top the RedHawks in comeback fashion, 8-4. (Recap) The starting pitching was strong during Sunday's doubleheader as Nathan Williams and Ryan Powers each pitched at least seven innings, but Miami was held to six total hits and dropped both contests, 4-1 and 2-1. (RecapThis Week: Miami plays five games this week, traveling to Cincinnati and Indiana on Tuesday and Wednesday before hosting Akron for a three-game MAC series beginning on Friday.

Softball

Last Week: The RedHawks got off to a great start in Mid-American Conference play with a sweep last week. The week started when the RedHawks dropped a 10-2 decision to Marshall in non-conference action on Wednesday. (Recap) Sweeping a doubleheader on Friday afternoon, Miami collected a 9-2 win in the first game and a 4-3, nine-inning triumph in the nightcap against Kent State University. (Recap) This Week: Miami hosts six games at its softball stadium this week. On Wednesday, the RedHawks welcome Northern Kentucky for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. On Friday, Miami takes on Toledo for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The RedHawks then face Bowling Green in single games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Women’s Tennis

Last Week: Miami went 2-1 last week. Miami defeated Stetson on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 5-2 in non-conference action. (Recap) On Saturday afternoon, Miami continued a strong start to MAC play when the RedHawks notched a 5-2 win at Ball State to move to 2-0 in league action. (Recap) Miami had a three-match win streak snapped when the RedHawks were edged at home by Louisville in non-conference action, 4-3. (Recap) This Week: Miami hits the road for a pair of MAC matches when the RedHawks travel to Buffalo on Friday, April 4 and the play at Akron on Saturday, April 5.

Men's Track and Field

Last Week: The RedHawks traveled to nearby Cincinnati for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational and placed second in the final team standings. After a light day of competition on Friday (Recap), Miami posted five event wins in the weekend finale on Saturday. The field events saw Sam Spallinger and Peter Stefanski win the long jump (6.83m) and high jump (1.98m), respectively. On the track, Wade Coffin (800m; 1:55.87), Skyler Coburn (400m hurdles; 53.60) and the 4x400m relay team (3:21.69) of Coffin, Coburn, Joey Comisford and Andrew Fockler were all victorious. (Recap) This Week: The Red and White host their first outdoor meet of the season, the Miami Invitational, on Friday and Saturday.

Women's Track and Field

Last Week: Miami went to the Music City for the Black and Gold Invitational, hosted by Vanderbilt. Laura Bess opened up the weekend in strong fashion, taking fifth in the 1500m invitational (4:27.53). (Recap) On Saturday, Charlotte Myers headlined 14 top-five finishes as she claimed the 400m with a time of 55.80. (Recap) Other notable performers were Erica Howes, who placed second in the 2000m steeplechase (7:01.40), and Adaora Anunike, who took third in the discus (43.11m). This Week: The Red and White host their first outdoor meet of the season, the Miami Invitational, on Friday and Saturday.

Golf

Last Week: The RedHawks finished fifth out of 27 teams at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate on Tuesday, (Monday Recap) (Tuesday Recap) This Week: Miami is idle this week. It returns to action Apr. 12-13 at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio.
