Last Week: Three RedHawks scored in double figures to spur Miami to a thrilling 59-56 win over Wright State on Sunday. Sophomore guard Geovonie McKnight paced the RedHawks with a career-high 16 points and 5 steals to lead all players, while senior forward Will Felder added 12 points and a game-high nine boards and sophomore guard Reggie Johnson chipped in 13 points. It was the 1,300th program win for Miami and the RedHawks’ won their second straight home game. (Recap) This Week: Miami hits the road for a pair of games, traveling to UMKC for an 8 p.m. (ET) game on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and then travels straight to Tennessee State for a game on Saturday, Dec. 21. Game time against the Tigers has changed to 5 p.m. (ET).
Last Week: Miami was idle last week. This Week: The RedHawks travel to the west coast, playing at Long Beach State at 10 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, Dec. 17 and at San Diego State at 9 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Congratulations to cross country senior Dave Wing, who was named the Ohio Division I Cross Country Runner of the Year by the All-Ohio Cross Country Coaches Association (Release), and to women’s cross country head coach Kelly Phillips, who was named the Ohio Cross Country Division I Coach of the Year. Two women’s soccer players also earned postseason honors. Congratulations to senior forward/midfielder Katy Dolesh, who earned All-Great Lakes Region Second-Team honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and senior midfielder Kayla Zakrzewski, who captured third-team honors. Junior Austin Czarnik was named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week early last week for the second week in a row for his performance in Miami’s series against Denver (Dec. 6-7). (Release) Miami also announced that it will host a 2016 NCAA Hockey Regional along with U.S. Bank Arena. (Release)
Miami men’s swimming and diving announced the signing of Ross Rybakowicz, Peter Simcox and Ross Westrick to national letters of intent. (Release)
Congratulations to the 10 RedHawk student-athletes who earned degrees on Friday during the winter commencement ceremonies and to all the Miami University students who graduated on Friday. (Release)
