Football

Last Week: Miami dropped a 17-10 decision on Saturday to the University of Massachusetts in Gillette Stadium. The contest was the first under interim head coach Mike Bath. Bath was named to that role on Oct. 6, 2013 and Athletics Director David Sayler removed Don Treadwell from the football program. (Bath Press Conference Video) (Sayler Press Conference Video) In The loss Miami had a season-high 290 yards of offense and held UMass to just 376 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hockey

Last Week: Miami went 2-0-0 this past weekend with a pair of wins versus in-state rival Ohio State. On Friday, the season opener for both squads, Miami posted a 6-2 victory. (Recap) The following night Miami would win 6-3 behind four goals from sophomore Riley Barber in the home opener for the Red and White. Barber finished the weekend series with seven points (4g, 3a). (Recap) (Highlights) This Week: The RedHawks now turn their attention to NCHC play as they prepare to host new conference foe North Dakota in the league’s opening game next weekend, Oct. 18-19 at Steve Cady Arena. Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m. as will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.

Soccer

Last Week: Senior goalkeeper Allison Norenberg broke Miami’s career shutout record with a pair of shutouts this weekend against two of the top teams in the Mid-American Conference. On Sunday, senior midfielder Kayla Zakrzewski broke a 0-0 stalemate when she punched in a goal in the 108th minute to lift Miami to a 1-0 double-overtime win. (Recap) On Friday, Miami played Western Michigan to a 0-0 double-overtime draw. (Recap) This Week: Miami returns to Oxford for a three-match homestand beginning with a 4 p.m. match against Northern Illinois on Friday, Oct. 18. The RedHawks then host Toledo at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 and Central Michigan at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.

Volleyball

Last Week: Miami split a pair of Mid-American Conference matches at home last week. The RedHawks used a balanced effort to get back on the winning track with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-22) victory over Akron Friday evening. (Recap) Despite a dominant first set, Miami dropped three straight sets to the University at Buffalo on Saturday evening, falling in four sets (25-10, 22-25, 21-25, 17-25) to the Bulls (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks remain at home for a pair of matches. Miami takes on Eastern Michigan on Thursday and Central Michigan on Friday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Millett Hall.

Field Hockey

Last Week: Miami got Mid-American Conference play off to a fantastic start with a 7-0 win over Ball State on Friday. (Recap) Prior to their only game of the week, the RedHawks were honored when freshman midfielder Carla Romagosa and senior goalkeeper Sarah Mueller won MAC weekly awards. (Release) This Week: The RedHawks continue MAC play when they take on Missouri State on Saturday. Miami then hosts 18th-ranked Iowa on Sunday at noon.

Golf

Last Week: Miami finished seventh out of 17 teams in the Firestone Invitational Tuesday. The RedHawks shot a final round of four-under par 284 to finish the tournament 18-over par with a final score of 882. South Carolina-Aiken ended up winning the tournament with a final score of seven-over par 871. (Day 1 Recap) (Day 2 Recap) This Week: The team is idle this week and will play in its final fall tournament at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Oct. 21-22, in Beallsville, Md.

Women’s Cross Country

Last Week: The team was idle this week, but junior Jess Hoover was honored as the MAC Female Runner of the Week for her performance at the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 5. (Release) This Week: The team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when it competes in the Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.

Men’s Cross Country

Last Week: The team was idle this week, but senior Dave Wing was honored as the MAC Male Runner of the Week for her performance at the All-Ohio Championship on Oct. 4. (Recap) This Week: The team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when it competes in the Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving open the 2013-14 season this weekend. The women's team hosts Purdue on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. and both teams entertain Xavier in a co-ed meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19

The RedHawk women’s tennis team also is in action this weekend, playing in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Memphis, Tenn. Oct. 20-22.
