Meyer comes to Oxford from fellow Mid-American Conference member Bowling Green State University. Meyer spent the past eight years as Assistant Director for Athletic Communications at BGSU, where he served as the media relations contact for the Falcons’ football program, as well as men’s and women’s golf and gymnastics. In addition, Meyer oversaw the production of Bowling Green’s football game program and maintained the department’s athletics website, BGSUFalcons.com.
“I am very excited to have Dave Meyer joining the Miami Family,” Sayler said. “I have known Dave for a long time from my days at Bowling Green and he did a tremendous job with the Falcons’ communications office. I know he will be a strong asset for Miami Athletics and will be great in guiding the Athletic Communications office into the future.”
During his time at Bowling Green, Meyer was honored by the Football Writers Association of America by being named to the “Super 11,” presented to the nation’s top 11 football SID staffs in the country. He also received BGSU’s “Roll Along” award in August of 2012 for embodying BGSU’s “18 Sports 1 Team” motto. Meyer worked with the Falcons’ ice hockey program from 2005-07 while at BGSU, as well.
Meyer earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Bowling Green in 2001 and finished his master’s degree in sports administration from BGSU in 2004. Before working at his alma mater, Meyer served as an athletic communications intern at the University of Dayton for one year.
A native of Ottawa, Ohio, Meyer is married to the former Amanda Schroeder and they have two daughters, Alaine (6) and Claire (3).
