OXFORD, Ohio - Leading their respective teams to a pair of wins last week, the Miami Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Feb. 18-24 are hockey freshman forward Riley Barber for the men and basketball senior guard Courtney Osborn on the women's side.

Barber (Livonia, Mich.) totaled three points in a sweep at Lake Superior State, tallying two goals and an assist. He fired 14 shots on goal in the pair of games while posting a +1 rating and blocking a shot. In Friday's back-and-forth 5-4 victory, Barber scored a goal, which knotted the game at 2-2 early in the second period. He fired a career-high and Miami season-high 10 shots on goal in the game while earning No. 3 star of the game accolades.  The next night in Saturday's 2-1 win, he notched two points on a goal and an assist, as he had a hand in both goals. He scored the game's first goal in the first period on the power play. He then assisted on the game-winning goal midway through the second period, soon after LSSU had tied the contest at 1-1. Barber put four shots on goal Saturday, when he was named the game's No. 1 star and had a +1 rating.

Barber has now earned Miami Male Athlete of the Week four times this year while he was also tabbed CCHA Gongshow® Rookie of the Week on Monday, his fourth time winning that award.

Osborn (Fishers, Ind.) had a historical week as she became Miami's all-time leading scorer against Buffalo on Wednesday, and followed it up by becoming the 12th player in Mid-American Conference history to crack 2,000 career points against Bowling Green on Saturday. She averaged an incredible 26.0 points per game last week. Osborn started by scoring 19 points in the victory over the Bulls, including 16 in the second half. She was 5-for-8 from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the arc. Osborn also had three assists and two steals in the victory. She stepped it up even further in the win over the Falcons. She finished with a season-high 33 points. Osborn was 12-for-17 from the field and 7-for-9 from three-point range. The seven 3-point makes tied a career high. She also finished with seven assists and a block in the game. For the week, Osborn was 17-for-25 from the field (68 percent) and 9-for-12 from three-point range (75 percent). She also averaged five assists on the week.

Osborn has now captured Miami Female Athlete of the Week three times this season and seven times in her career. She was also named MAC East Division Player of the Week on Monday, her third time winning that award this season and also the seventh time in her career she's claimed the honor.

Barber and the No. 3 hockey team close out the regular season this weekend with a pair of games against in-state rival Ohio State at Steve Cady Arena. Puck drop Friday is at 7:35 p.m. while Saturday's game, which is Senior Night, is at 7:05 p.m. with Miami needing just one win to clinch the CCHA regular-season title. Osborn and the women's basketball team are back on the court Thursday, hosting Kent State at Millett Hall at 7 p.m. for Senior Night, before heading to Akron Sunday for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
