Hockey

Last week: The third-ranked RedHawks split a two-game road series against sixth-ranked Western Michigan. Miami dropped the opening game of the set, 2-0, on Friday (FULL STORY), but responded with a dominating 4-0 victory on Saturday (FULL STORY). With the win, first-place MU maintained its one-point lead over the second-place Broncos in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings and improved to 18-7-5 overall and 13-5-4-4 in league play. This week: The 'Hawks host Ohio State Friday, Feb. 15 at 7:35 p.m., before traveling to play Notre Dame in the Hockey City Classic Sunday, Feb. 17 in Chicago at Soldier Field. Men's Basketball

Last week: The RedHawks (8-14, 3-7 MAC) lost two games by a combined five points. On Friday, Miami fell to Toledo on the road, 65-64, as the Rockets made a buzzer-beating three with one second remaining (FULL STORY). The 'Hawks were then edged by league-leader Akron, 54-50, on Saturday (FULL STORY). At halftime of its game against the Zips, Miami announced its 2012-13 Hall of Fame Class, which included: Dale Cohen '94 (women's tennis), Terry Hoeppner (coach), P.L. (Pete) Miller '71 (men's track & field), Ben Roethlisberger '12 (football), Karin Sherr '99 (synchronized skating) and Kyle Voska '98 (golf). Click HERE for a photo gallery. This week: The RedHawks hit the road, as they travel to face the Golden Flashes of Kent State on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on SportsTime Ohio. Miami then returns home to face Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 16 for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off at Millett Hall in the second game of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader. The Feb. 16 game is a McFamily and Friends Day with a special ticket package that includes four game tickets and four McDonald's Extra Value Meal vouchers for just $44.


Women's Basketball

Last week: The RedHawks (14-9, 6-4 MAC) began their three-game home stand with two losses against Toledo and Akron. Miami fell to the hot-shooting Rockets, 80-49, on Wednesday (FULL STORY) and was edged by the Zips, 84-77, on Saturday (FULL STORY). This week: The 'Hawks host Central Michigan Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m.


Baseball

This week: The 2013 baseball season begins this week, as Miami makes the first of two straight trips to the First Pitch Invitational in Greenville, S.C. The RedHawks return 15 letter winners, including six starting position players and three of four starting pitchers. Look for a full preview of the team later this week on MURedHawks.com. MU plays Northwestern on Friday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. and Michigan State on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. The 'Hawks round out the invitational on Sunday, playing Ferman at 3 p.m. All three games will be played at Fluor Field, home of the Class A Greenville Drive. Softball

This week: The 2013 softball season begins this week, as Miami competes in the Georgia Tech Classic Friday, Feb. 15 through Sunday, Feb. 17 in Atlanta, Ga. Look for a full season preview later this week on MURedHawks.com. On Friday, MU plays Indiana at 11 a.m. and Georgia Tech at 5 p.m. The 'Hawks then play Georgia Tech again on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Marshall at 5 p.m. Miami closes out the invitational playing Marshall for the second time on Sunday at 11 a.m. For the team's full schedule click HERE.


Women's Swimming & Diving

Last week: Senior Bekka Westrick led Miami to a 176.5-123.5 victory at rival Ohio on Saturday, completing the RedHawks' perfect 6-0 run through MAC competition in 2012-13 (FULL STORY). Coming up: Coach Dave Jennings has two-and-a-half weeks to fine tune his RedHawks for the 2013 MAC Championship meet in Buffalo, N.Y. Competition begins on Feb. 28 and runs through Mar. 2.


Men's Swimming & Diving

Last week: The RedHawks completed Senior Day in a perfect way, as they topped the Ball State Cardinals, 148-118, on Saturday in Oxford (FULL STORY). The meet was the team's last regular-season competition of the year. Coming up: Miami will have a little less than a month before travelling to Carbondale, Ill. for the MAC Championships March 7 through March 9. The swimmers who do not compete at the MACs will stay in Oxford to race in the Ohio Senior Championships March 1 through March 3.


Tennis

Last week: Miami battled Marshall for over four hours on Sunday, taking four singles matches to three sets, but the Thundering Herd escaped with a 5-2 victory over the RedHawks. Nimisha Mohan and Alix Thurman gained wins for Miami's points (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks (2-5) return to action Sunday, Feb. 17 when they host Middle Tennessee State. The action is slated to being at 10 a.m. at Hamilton's Riverside Athletic Club.


Women's Track & Field

Last week: Senior Layne Baggett set a school record and freshman Megan Beaver was victorious on the track to highlight Miami's showing at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday, hosted by Grand Valley State at the Kelly Family Sports Center. The GVSU Big Meet featured over 50 teams, including multiple nationally ranked teams in both Division I and Division II, as well as seven other Mid-American Conference schools (FULL STORY/RESULTS). This week: The RedHawks have one final tune-up before the MAC Championships Feb. 22-23, as Miami competes at the Ball State Quadrangular Friday, Feb. 15 in Muncie, Ind.


Men's Track & Field

This week: The RedHawks begin their season with two indoor meets. Miami travels to compete in the Buckeye Tune-Up Friday, Feb. 15 in Columbus and then returns to Columbus the following week for a dual-meet against Cincinnati at Capital University. MU's first home meet is the Miami Invitational on Friday, April 5.
