Soccer

Last week: 24th-ranked Miami played No. 15 Duke even in the second half, but two early goals were too much for the RedHawks women's soccer team to overcome in a 4-1 loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon at the University of Virginia's Klöckner Stadium (FULL STORY). Miami finished the season with an overall record of 20-3-1.

 

Ice Hockey

Last week: The 4th-ranked Miami ice hockey team defeated visiting Michigan State, 2-0, Saturday night (FULL STORY) and earned a 2-2 tie and shootout win against the Spartans Friday night (FULL STORY) at Steve Cady Arena in the Goggin Ice Center. The RedHawks (7-2-3, 4-2-2-2 CCHA) are now unbeaten in their last five games. This week: Miami, which sits in first place in the CCHA after last weekend, is off this weekend before making the long trek to take on Alaska Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. Puck drop is 11:05 p.m. ET both nights (7:05 p.m. local).

 

Football

Last week: Central Michigan thwarted Miami's comeback effort and eliminated the RedHawks from postseason play Saturday afternoon with a 30-16 victory at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Mich. (FULL STORY). This week: The RedHawks return home to play Ball State in their regular-season finale Friday, Nov. 23 at Yager Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m.

 

Men's Basketball

Last week: Freshman guard Reggie Johnson scored a team-high 20 points, leading the Miami to a 80-54 victory over Grambling State in its home opener Tuesday night at Millett Hall (FULL STORY). The team then fell to No. 2 Louisville on the road, 80-39, Sunday at the KFC Yum Center. Freshman guard Geovonie McKnight and junior forward Bill Edwards led the RedHawks with seven points apiece (FULL STORY). This week: Miami continues a three-game, seven-day stretch when it travels to William & Mary for a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The team also hosts James Madison Saturday, Nov. 24 at noon.

 

Women's Basketball

Last week: Courtney Osborn's 20 points helped push the Miami past Northern Kentucky, 63-52, Monday night in the team's home opener at Millett Hall (FULL STORY). The RedHawks then defeated Robert Morris, 70-56, in another home contest Thursday night (FULL STORY). This week: Miami will be off until after the Thanksgiving holiday. The RedHawks return to action Friday, Nov. 23 when they host College of Charleston at 6 p.m. They will also take on Youngstown State Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m.

 

Men's Swimming & Diving

Coming up: The RedHawks, who were idle last week, return to action at the Nixon Aquatic Center from Nov. 29-Dec. 1 for the annual Miami Invitational.

 

Women's Swimming & Diving

Coming up: The RedHawks, who were idle last week, return to action at the Nixon Aquatic Center from Nov. 29-Dec. 1 for the annual Miami Invitational.

 

Synchronized Skating

Coming up: The RedHawks open their 2012-13 competitive seasons Dec. 1-2 at the Dr. Richard Porter Classic.

 

Volleyball

This week: After a week off, the RedHawks host Cincinnati Saturday, Nov. 24 in their regular season finale at 4 p.m.

  • This weekend Miami University offers its best ticket package ever to sports fans. For just $20, fans wiill be admitted to all five athletic contests being hosted by the RedHawks. The special package includes Friday'shome football finalevs. Ball State (1 p.m.), Friday's women's basketball game against Charleston (5 p.m.), Saturday's men's basketball gamevs. James Madison (12 noon), Saturday's volleyball match against Cincinnati (4 p.m.) and Sunday's women's basketball game vs. Youngstown State (2 p.m.).
