OXFORD, Ohio - Veteran staff member Josh Fenton has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director for Finance and Administration at Miami University, Director of Athletics BRAD BATES announced Thursday (May 31).
Fenton, who begins his eleventh year at Miami, will have financial oversight of the athletic program, including the budget, financial forecasting and financial reporting to University Administration. He also will oversee the day-to-day administration of the department which includes business and finance, student support services, short- and long-term department planning, legal and equity matters, contracts, and daily department operations.
Fenton will continue to be a RedHawk sport administrator and oversee the department's Culture of Champions strategic planning process. He also will serve as athletic department liaison to Housing/Dining/Guest Services, Human Resources, General Counsel, the Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity, and Finance and Business Services. Additionally, Fenton will oversee Miami Athletics' Strength and Conditioning and Equipment Services areas.
Bates said his national search included several outstanding candidates, but Fenton's proven abilities gave him the edge for the position.

Fenton said that he looks forward to continuing to serve Miami Athletics.

Fenton first came to Miami in August of 2002, serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the ice hockey team. From July of 2004 through August of 2006, he was assistant director of Corporate Relations and Director of Hockey Operations. Fenton was promoted to assistant athletic director in September of 2006 and remained in that role until September of 2010 when he became Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. In addition to leading the Marketing-Sales, Ticketing and Sponsorship areas, he also coordinated activity towards Miami becoming a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Fenton earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Iowa State University in 2001 and attained a Master of Science degree in Sport Studies from Miami in 2004.
Josh and his wife, Lindsay, are the parents of two sons, Ryan and Luke. They reside in Oxford.
