Congratulations to the Miami University Class of 2012! It was a busy weekend in Oxford, full of graduation ceremonies, senior receptions and recognitions and several RedHawk wins. More than 80 student-athletes, spirit group members and athletic trainers earned degrees this weekend, and Miami Athletics celebrated with a reception for the graduates and their families on Saturday prior to the commencement ceremony at Yager Stadium. Miami Softball seniors and their families. The RedHawks won the MAC East Division on Sunday.

Last Week: Miami (35-17; 16-6 MAC) won the MAC East Division title on Senior Day when senior Casey Drees hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to give the RedHawks a 9-1, run-rule victory over Toledo. (RECAP) On Saturday, the RedHawks seized a 5-0 shutout of Toledo with senior pitcher Jessica Simpson giving up just two hits to the Rockets. (RECAP) Miami split a doubleheader with Bowling Green on Friday with a 3-2 win in the first game before a 3-1 loss in the nightcap. (RECAP) Earlier in the week Simpson was named the MAC East Division Pitcher of the Week, garnering the honor for the 15th time in her career, sixth time this season and second consecutive week. (RELEASE) This Week: The RedHawks are the No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament and receive a double bye in the double-elimination tournament, sending them to a Thursday night game at 7:30 p.m. (MAC TOURNAMENT BRACKET)

Head Coach Dan Simonds recorded his 200th win at the helm of the Miami Baseball program Saturday.

Last Week: Max Andresen hit his first career home run and added a sacrifice fly for a third RBI, lifting Miami (25-23; 10-11 MAC) to a 4-3 win and series sweep over Akron Sunday at McKie Field. (RECAP) Bryce Redeker and Nate Bowles drove in two runs each with a pair of hits, and three Miami pitchers combined for the RedHawks' fourth shutout of the season in 6-0 triumph over Akron Saturday night. Head Coach Dan Simonds recorded his 200th win at Miami with the win. (RECAP) Miami opened the series with a 4-3 win against the Zips on Friday evening. (RECAP) This Week: Miami hosts Cincinnati at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Tuesday’s game between the teams at Cincinnati was cancelled. The RedHawks then head to Kent State for a three-game weekend series.

Last Week: Miami finished in fifth place at the MAC Championships after Sunday showers forced the 72-hole tournament to be shortened to 54 holes. (RECAP) On Saturday, the RedHawks boasted one of their best rounds of the season with a one-under par 287 to move up four spots in the standings and sit just five shots out of second place. Ben Peacock finished the MAC Championship as Miami’s top individual, tied for 13th at seven-over par. Mark MacDonald was tied for 21st at 11-over par. This Week: Season Concluded

Last Week: Despite stormy weather and the injury bug, Miami overcame the obstacles to place four RedHawks among the top two in their events, including one win, Friday at the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University. Junior Layne Baggett finished first in 13.87 in the 100m hurdles. (RECAP) This Week: Miami competes at the MAC Championships at Central Michigan May 10-12.

Last Week: Sophomore Jahquil Hargrove won the 400m dash to lead Miami Friday at the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University. The meet served as a final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championships and was also delayed for several hours due to heavy rain and lightning. (RECAP) This Week: Miami competes at the MAC Championships at Central Michigan May 10-12.
