CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced last Thursday that Miami University has won its inaugural Institutional Sportsmanship Award Trophy. The award was presented at the MAC Honor's Dinner, as part of the conference's annual Spring Meetings at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel.
The Institutional Sportsmanship Award evolved from the MAC's recent strategic plan as the value of sportsmanship was the center of the conference mission statement and core values. Miami came out on top of the conference-wide voting, showing the reputation for sportsmanship by RedHawk student-athletes, coaches and administrators among their peers.
"We are especially honored to receive the prestigious Mid-American Conference Sportsmanship Award because it was voted upon by our peers," said Miami Athletic Director Brad Bates. "To be acknowledged by our colleagues across this great league as a symbol of strong core values is a testament to our coaches, staff and students who manifest those values daily as scholars, athletes, servers and leaders. We are humbled by this recognition."
