OXFORD, Ohio – Miami Football will be donning a new look when it kicks off the season Aug. 31 and now RedHawk fans will have a chance to sport some of the same apparel as Miami Athletics announces “30 Days of Giveaways.” The initiative, counting down to kickoff of the season opener against Marshall, is part of Miami’s relaunch of social media, which is how fans will be able to Stand As ONE (#MUStandAs1) and win some of Miami’s bold new gear.
Beginning today, Aug. 1, and each day leading up to football’s season opener, a different prize will be awarded to a fan via Facebook (Swoop’s Facebook Page), Twitter (@MiamiRedHawks) or Instagram (SwoopRedHawk). Prizes include Miami Football warm-up jackets, shirts, shorts, hats and gloves, with the final prize on Aug. 30 being lunch with Miami Director of Athletics @MiamiOH_DSayler (David Sayler).
Fans should check all three social media platforms daily to see what is needed to enter that day’s giveaway. Contests will include answering trivia questions, posting pictures, attending events and many others. RedHawk fans can also search Twitter for each day’s contest by searching for Miami’s official hashtag for 2013-14, #MUStandAs1, as Miami encourages all fans, students and athletes to Stand As ONE this season. When a fan does receive their Miami apparel, they are encouraged to tweet a picture of themselves to @MiamiRedHawks using the hashtag #MUStandAs1.
In addition, fans can also post pictures of themselves every Friday this year wearing their Miami red. The RedHawks will once again be promoting “Wear Red Fridays” after the success of last year’s “All-In Fridays,” when fans tweeted or posted Facebook pictures of themselves donning red apparel.
Miami’s official athletics Twitter account, @MiamiRedHawks, has had a makeover to coincide with Miami’s refreshed logos, as have all of Miami’s team Twitter accounts. All Miami team accounts now begin with @MiamiOH followed by the sport and all feature the same sport-specific Miami logo as an icon. The RedHawks also unveiled their official Instagram account, SwoopRedHawk, earlier this summer. All of Miami’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) can now be found in a new, redesigned social media hub to make accounts easier for fans to follow and like.
