SOMERVILLE, Ohio – Several Miami University football, women’s basketball and track and field athletes were at the Somerville Community Center on Tuesday as part of the Somerville Outreach Program. It is part of a Talawanda School District project that targets at-risk kindergarten through second grade students with fun and unique activities during the summer.
This was the final of several sessions that Miami student-athletes participated in. They were joined by several community members who brought their dogs in order to teach the kids the safe way to take care of and approach both friendly and not-so-friendly appearing dogs. After the lesson, the student-athletes participated in a fun game of Simon Says with the kids, led by women’s basketball Director of Operations Ashley Saia.
