OXFORD, Ohio—Miami University Cheerleading is seeking enthusiastic individuals with a passion for inspiring others with their RedHawk spirit at athletic events for the 2013-14 seasons. Tryouts for the varsity cheerleading squad will be held on Sunday, April 28 in the Millett Hall Sub-Gymnasium.
The day begins at 8 a.m. with instructional sessions to learn the various routines and components for tryouts and will conclude with tryouts that should end at approximately 7 p.m. There will be a break for lunch.
Those wishing to tryout need to complete waiver and health history forms, bring a copy of a physical form that has been completed within the last six months and provide a headshot in the tryout uniform (Females: black, white or red sports bra, black spandex, crew socks, cheer shoes, and gameday hair and makeup. Males: black, white or red t-shirt, black athletic shorts and tennis shoes). There also is a $30 fee in order to tryout.
Prior to the tryout, individuals should learn the words to the Miami University Fight Song. Individuals also should have great physical endurance and be positive and teachable. Tumbling and stunting will be part of the tryout process.
The Miami University Cheerleading Program is a combined group of talented co-ed and all-girl members, who are driven, hardworking, and spirited, always representing the Miami motto "Love and Honor."
