CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced the women’s basketball conference schedule on Tuesday. Under a new format this season, teams will play 18 league games for the first time since 1998.
Miami will play each of its MAC East Division rivals twice for a total of 10 games. The RedHawks will play four West Division teams once (two home and two away) and two West Division teams twice. By a random computer draw, Miami will play Toledo and Western Michigan twice this season.
After ending non-conference play on Dec. 29 against Cleveland State, Miami opens MAC play at home against WMU six days later on Jan. 4. A two-game road trip to Ohio (Jan. 9) and Toledo (Jan. 12) follows, before home games against Akron (Jan. 15) and Northern Illinois (Jan. 18). The RedHawks then have a rematch against Western Michigan in Kalamazoo (Jan. 22), before concluding the month of January with a home game versus Kent State (Jan. 25) and a road contest at Buffalo (Jan. 30).
The month of February will be road heavy, as Miami will host only two out of its seven games at Millett Hall. It begins with a trip to Eastern Michigan (Feb. 2). After a home rematch against Toledo (Feb. 6), a two-game road trip to Bowling Green (Feb. 9) and Central Michigan (Feb. 15) awaits. The RedHawks then host Ball State (Feb. 20) before traveling to Kent State (Feb. 23) and Akron (Feb. 26).
Miami completes the regular season with three straight games at Millett Hall. After hosting Buffalo on March 1 and Bowling Green on March 5, the RedHawks will take on Ohio for Senior Day on March 8.
The MAC Tournament begins on March 10 with first round games on campus sites. The remainder of the tournament will take place at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, beginning with the second round on March 12.
