OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University women's basketball team completes the regular season with another addition of the "Battle of the Bricks" on Wednesday when it travels to Ohio. ALMOST TIME FOR THE TOURNAMENT: After a tough loss against Akron on Sunday, the RedHawks are out of contention for a bye in the upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament. With a 9-6 record, Miami would currently be the sixth seed. The 'Hawks can move up to the fifth seed with a win on Wednesday and a loss by Bowling Green to Kent State. They could fall to the seventh seed if they lose to Ohio and Buffalo defeats Akron. Regardless, Miami will host a MAC First Round Tournament contest on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Millett Hall. The opponent in the contest will be either Kent State, Ohio or Northern Illinois.

OLOWINSKI CLOSING IN ON TOP TEN: Senior forward Kirsten Olowinski scored 17 points against the Zips on Sunday to give herself 1,256 points for her career. She ranks 11th all-time in scoring at Miami and is only 14 points away from cracking the top 10. Currently holding the 10th position on the 'Hawks all-time scoring is list is assistant coach Colleen Day (2000-04), who scored 1,269 points during her career.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS: Ohio is 6-21 overall and 1-14 in the MAC. The Bobcats have lost their last three games in a row, including a 73-52 defeat at Bowling Green in their last action on Sunday. Ohio has struggled to score this season, as it averages only 54.3 points per game and has cracked the 60-point mark only seven times. It has been led offensively by junior guard Erin Bailes. She averages 10.9 points per game. Another key player is junior guard Shavon Robinson, who averages 10.0 points per contest. The Bobcats are good at forcing mistakes, causing opponents to turn the ball over 18.5 times per contest. Opponents have outrebounded them by an average of 8.6 caroms per game, however.

SERIES WITH OHIO: Miami holds a 50-25 lead in the all-time series with the Bobcats, and has won the last three meetings in a row. In their earlier meeting this season on Jan. 17 in Oxford, the RedHawks earned a 78-56 victory. Miami used a 29-6 run midway through the first half to break the game open. Kirsten Olowinski finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds, that double-double gave her the career record in that category. Hannah Robertson tied a career high with 21 points in the victory.

UP NEXT FOR THE REDHAWKS: Miami begins its MAC championship quest on Saturday when it hosts either Kent State, Ohio or Northern Illinois for a MAC First Round contest at Millett Hall. Game time is 2 p.m. The game will air live on Miami All-Access for those who have a subscription. The RedHawks have to win to continue their run through the MAC Tournament, the remainder of which will take place at Quicken Loans Arena, March 13-16.
