CLEVELAND -The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly awards for women's basketball on Monday. Junior guard Hannah Robertson (New Albany, Ohio) was named MAC East Division Player of the Week after a vote by league's women's basketball coaches. It is the first time in her career that she has earned a MAC award.
Robertson showed that she was completely recovered from her recent injury, averaging 17 points in two big Miami wins last week. She tied a career-high with 21 points in a victory over Ohio on Thursday. She then followed it up with 13 points against Eastern Michigan on Sunday. Robertson shot 56.5 percent for the week, including an 8-for-11 performance against the Bobcats. She was 5-for-11 from behind the arc in the two games. Robertson had three rebounds against Ohio and followed that up with eight rebounds against EMU. That was only one off her season-high. Robertson also had four assists and two steals on the week.
This is the fifth time a Miami player has been named MAC East Division Player of the Week this season. Courtney Osborn earned the award on Nov. 12 and Dec. 24, while Kirsten Olowinski earned it on back-to-back weeks, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.
The RedHawks return to action on Thursday with an important game at Bowling Green at 7 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live on BCSN2. Tim Bray will have an audio broadcast on Miami All-Access for those who have a subscription.
