OXFORD, Ohio--Senior guard Hannah Robertson scored 18 points to lead all scorers as the Miami University women's basketball team claimed a 68-63 win over Ohio on Saturday afternoon inside Millett Hall.
With the win that snapped an eight-game skid for the RedHawks, Miami (8-21; 4-14 Mid-American Conference) will be the No. 10 seed in the Mid-American Conference Tournament and will travel to No. 7 seed Western Michigan for a first-round game on Monday night at 7 p.m.
Miami built a 17-11 advantage by the 9:47 mark off a junior guard Courtney Larson layup, but the Bobcats (9-20; 4-14 MAC) went on an 11-2 run over the next three minutes to take a three-point lead with 6:42 to go in the opening half, 22-19. Trailing 24-21 with 3:01 to go in the half, the RedHawks staged a 12-2 run to claim a 33-26 lead with four seconds to go in the half, which they carried into the intermission. Hannah Robertson accounted for seven of the RedHawks’ points during that flurry.
The RedHawks pushed their lead to nine several times in the opening minutes of the second half, the last coming at 16:35 off a Hannah Robertson triple to put Miami up 42-35. Ohio fired right back and used a 13-2 surge to knot the game at 44 apiece on a Mariah Byard 3-pointer at the 13:38 mark. The Bobcats again tied the game at 53-53 off a Quiera Lampkins three-point play with 9:23 to go, but that was as close as they would get as Miami promptly used a 9-0 surge over the next three minutes to push ahead of Ohio for good.
