WEDNESDAY'S GAME: After a thrilling 63-52 win at No. 6 seed Bowling Green on Monday, the 11th-seeded RedHawks advance to the Mid-American Conference Tournament second round to face No. 7 seed Eastern Michigan at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. It will be the eighth time the teams have met in MAC Tournament action with the RedHawks holding a 4-3 edge in the tournament series. The last time the teams met was in the 2000 MAC Tournament first round with Miami posting a 64-51 win in Ypsilanti. This is the first MAC Tournament second round game for Miami, which owns a 5-1 mark in first-round games and a 17-11 record in quarterfinal games. Wednesday will be the 68th meeting in the all-time series between Miami and Eastern Michigan with the RedHawks holding a 47-20 record against the Eagles. EMU notched a 65-58 win in Ypsilanti in the lone meeting between the teams this year on Jan. 19. Prior to that, Miami had won the previous 16 meetings.
IN MONDAY'S WIN ...: The RedHawks captured their first MAC Tournament win since defeating Buffalo in the 2010 quarterfinals, 73-59 .... Miami snapped a nine-game losing skid Monday and earned its first win since topping Central Michigan on the road on Feb. 2, 70-61 ... The RedHawks also equaled their number of wins from a season ago.
NOTABLE NUMBERS: Miami scored 17 points off the Falcons' 10 turnovers, and the RedHawks received 29 points from their bench. Junior forward Jon Harris led all scorers with 14 points, and he scored all of his points in the first half. Freshman guard Reggie Johnson tallied 12 points at BGSU with 10 coming in the second half. Junior forward Will Felder was the other RedHawk in double figures with 11 points. He knocked down 6-of-6 free throws attempts over the final minute of the game. Miami had just nine turnovers at Bowling Green, the fifth time this season its turnovers have been in single digits. Coincidentally, the RedHawks had a season-low seven turnovers in their last game at BGSU on Feb. 27.
20/20 VISION: Junior forward Jon Harris poured in a career-high 21 points at Akron on March 5, the first 20-point scoring effort of his career. Harris was 8-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range against the Zips. Junior forward Will Felder tied a Miami career high with 20 points in the following game at Ohio on March 9. It was the second time this season he hit the 20-point mark and was the eighth time this season a RedHawk scored 20 or more points.
