REDHAWKS HOST BALL STATE AT 3 P.M. SATURDAY: Miami University's men's basketball team looks to rebound after a pair of losses and faces Ball State, which is trying to end a four-game losing skid at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26. Miami seeks its 600th Mid-American Conference win. Saturday's game is part of Cancer Awareness Week and is the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers game where the coaching staffs will wear sneaks to promote cancer awareness. Miami also will honor its 19 student-athletes who achieved 4.0 GPAs for the Fall 2012 semester and the Championship Readers from local elementary schools.

STEALING THE SHOW: Junior guard Quinten Rollins tallied four steals against Ohio and pushed his season total to 39, which is just 11 from cracking Miami's single-season top-10 list. Rollins has 122 steals for his career and needs just one more to break onto Miami's career top-10 list. Rollins leads the MAC in steals, averaging 2.3 per game.

DOUBLE TIME: Junior forward Will Felder recorded his first double-double at Miami and the second by a RedHawk this season. Felder amassed 19 points off 7-of-11 shooting and also posed 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass, against Ohio on Jan. 23. Felder's 10 rebounds are the most by a Miami player this season. Earlier in the year, junior guard Quinten Rollins posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists against James Madison.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS: Ball State enters Saturday's game with a 7-10 overall record and a 1-4 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Cardinals have lost four straight after posting a 60-58 win over Eastern Michigan to open league action. Jesse Berry leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 ppg. Majok Majok and Jauwan Scaife follow, averaging 12.1 ppg apiece. Majok also averages 10.2 rpg, which leads the MAC. Majok ranks 16th nationally in rebounding and 37th in double-doubles with seven on the season, while Chris Bond ranks 40th in steals (2.18) per game. In MAC action, Scaife leads the conference in made 3-pointers, averaging 2.6 per outing.

SERIES WITH BALL STATE: Saturday marks the 96th meeting in the all-time series with Ball State. The RedHawks own a 59-36 lead in the series and are 34-10 when facing the Cardinals in Oxford. Miami has won 11 of the last 12 meetings, including the last two. Last season, the RedHawks posted a 59-53 win in Munice. The last time the teams met in Millett Hall, Miami captured an 89-75 decision. The Cardinals' last win in the series was in overtime in Muncie on Jan. 26, 2010, 65-59. Their last win in Millett Hall was on Jan. 17, 2004, 56-50.

UP NEXT: Miami concludes a three-game home stretch against Western Michigan on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. Miami then hits the road for a 7 p.m. game at Central Michigan on Feb. 2 and a 7 p.m. game at Toledo on Feb. 6., before returning home to host Akron in the first game of a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

Junior guard Quinten Rollins' double-double (10 pts/10 asts) against James Madison was the first point/assist double-double by a MAC player this season. His seven steals against Grambling State are the most by a MAC player in 2012-13. Rollins leads the MAC assist/turnover ratio (2.6) and steals (2.3) and ranks 5th in assists (4.4). In MAC-only games, Rollins ties for 3rd in steals (2.4) and ranks 6th in assist/turnover ratio (1.5) and 7th in assists (3.4).

Junior guard Allen Roberts ranks 10th in scoring (13.2), 6th in free-throw percentage (.838) and ties for 10th in 3-pointers (1.8). In MAC-only games, Roberts ranks 11th in scoring (14.2) and ties for 13th in steals (1.4) and 15th in 3-pointers (1.4).

Junior forward Will Felder ranks 3rd in field goal percentage (.554), 17th in scoring (11.4), 17th in rebounding (5.1), 11th in defensive rebounds (3.8) and ties for 11th in blocked shots (1.0). In MAC-only games, Felder ranks 6th in scoring (15.6), 4th in field goal percentage (.612), ties for 8th in rebounding (6.6), 12th in blocked shots (1.0), 14th in offensive rebounds (2.2) and ranks 9th in defensive rebounds (4.4).

As a team, Miami ranks among the top four in the MAC in steals (9.2, 2nd), field goal percentage (.433, 3rd), turnover margin (+2.4, 3rd), 3-point field goal percentage (.332, 4th), assists (13.5, 4th), assist/turnover ratio (1.0, 4th) and 3-pointers (6.6, 4th). In MAC-only games, the RedHawks rank among the top four in field goal percentage (.451, 2nd), steals (9.2, 2nd), rebounding defense (30.4, 2nd), turnover margin (+1.0, 4th), defensive rebounding percentage (.648, 4th).

Miami's game against Akron on Feb. 9 will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

Freshman guard Geovonie McKnight recorded a pair of career highs against Ohio on Jan. 23. McKnight notched 11 points and four steals. It was his first double-figure scoring effort.

Entering the weekend, two RedHawks rank among national statistical leaders according to the NCAA. Junior guard Quinten Rollins ranked 26th nationally in assist/turnover ratio (2.64) and 25th in steals (2.29). Junior guard Allen Roberts ranked 76th nationally in free-throw percentage (.838). As a team, Miami ranked 24th nationally in steals (9.2).

With Miami's 60-63 win against Bowling Green on Jan. 16, Miami head coach John Cooper posted his 50th career win. Cooper was 43-51 in three seasons at Tennessee State before assuming the Miami post.

For the sixth time this season and the second time in as many games, a RedHawk posted a 20-point scoring effort. Junior forward Will Felder notched a Miami career high of 20 points off 10-of-14 shooting in a thrilling 63-60 win over Bowling Green on Jan. 16. It was his first 20-point scoring performance as a RedHawk. Junior guard Allen Roberts amassed 22 points at Buffalo on Jan. 12, one off his career high and the fifth 20-point performance of his career. It was the second time in three games Roberts had eclipsed 20 points. Freshman guard Reggie Johnson also has had two 20-point scoring efforts this season, including a 21-point effort against James Madison on Nov. 24.

After not having won a game without scoring at least 70 points in its first five wins, the RedHawks' last two wins came while not reaching that benchmark. Miami posted a 58-57 win at Buffalo on Jan. 12 and seized a 63-60 win over Bowling Green on Jan. 16. Miami averages 73.6 ppg in wins and 59.2 ppg in losses.

The RedHawks posted their second 50-percent shooting effort of the season against Bowling Green on Jan. 16, knocking down 54.9 percent of their field goals (28-of-51). Miami had its best shooting effort of the season against UIC on Dec. 22, shooting .566 from the field (30-of-53). Miami also connected on 52.6 percent of its 3-point shots against the Flames.

Senior center Vince Legarza and junior guard Quinten Rollins are team captains for 2012-13.

The RedHawks set a program record for steals in a game with 22 take-aways against Grambling State on Nov. 13, eclipsing the previous record of 18 which was achieved twice (vs. DePauw on Dec. 4, 1991 and vs. Centre on Dec. 2, 1985).

Junior guard Quinten Rollins tied a single-game record for steals with seven against Grambling State. He equaled the Miami record set by Chuck Goodyear against Toledo on Jan. 11, 1976, by Ron Harper against Marietta on Dec. 1, 1984 and by Damon Frierson against Ball State on Feb. 27, 1999.
